Went early. It Tried To Rain us out but we presisted. Fished Talala Creek area. Water Temp Was in the Lower 70s and dirty. Fishing was Tuff To say the least lots of Shad. Only managed 2 Keepers. We fished Everywhere. Up the Creek, Down the Creek, Rip rap @ Winganon, Timber in Jamestown. The Nice 14"er came from the Bridge. My Buddy Hooked about a 3' Gar. I Know he was 3 feet cause he Jumped out of the water and almost into the Boat !! He Broke off cause i was trying to get my Phone ready for an action shot incase he jumped again while i was doin that he made a run under the boat lol

Any trouble with the Vada ramp or did you put in elsewhere? Funny that the magic hour just following daybreak has not really paid off of late.

Me and the wife dared to launch from Vada Saturday. We didn't have too much trouble launching, ran my trolling motor until we got in open water. Loading back out was a different story. Had to load the boat with a rope and without anyone in the boat. I've never seen it this bad, rocks and stumps all around the end of the ramp and your trailer will drop off the ramp without the trailer being very deep at all. I've got a 16.5ft SeaArk and it was a challenge for sure. I won't go back again until the water level comes up a few feet. Anybody with a fiberglass boat would sure regret putting their boat in there. Everyone we saw loading out had the same problem. The wife and I managed 5 keepers and twice that many dinks and were just thankful we didn't damage the boat.

I have only been twice this summer and the brush piles that paid off big the last two summers have been a big bust this year. Last Tuesday a friend and I only managed 8 keepers.

My Daughters and I were headed into Oologah Sunday around 11 am. A truck pulling a nice fiberglass boat had just turned onto 310 Road off 169 headed for Vada Point Ramp. I flagged him down as the driver had that wtf look on his face. I warned him about the ramp and that he should strongley consider using another spot to launch. He thanked me but I think he went on to Vada anyway. I tried. The lake needs to rise to at least 635.5' before boats will be safe again. Notice I didn't say MOTORS! I've used this ramp for the last 10 years and have never seen it this low.

On another note, even when the lake comes back up and the fishing picks up too, I personally think EVERYONE should use another ramp:biggrin.

been thinkin about comming over to OK. and hittin Oologah any ramps on the lower end safe to unload/load a boat, been lookin at the map,but you know how maps are, nothing like live eyes telling you where to and not to unload...

Beagle man both ramps close to the dam are good. Spencer creek ramp on the east side of the lake is good too. Sunny side on the west side is fine too. Allen's point ramp on the Winganon bridge is probably still good too. Come on down, we'd enjoy meeting you. Whats kinda boat you in. I'll stop and say hi if I see you. Holler if you need help findin some fish.

Save your gas unless you're coming down this way anyway. The bite has been pathetic ever since spring pre spawn when the lake jumped up ten feet, then back down, then back up, then down, down, down to where it's currently at. Almost 3' below normal and I've never seen it so slow, for so long.

Actually I thought the fishing on oologah bogged down about last January for me but then I never fished the lake before November of 2011 so what do I know.

Oologah had been on about a 2 year run of greatness. Almost anytime one could catch a limit during that time no matter what time of year. It actually slowed way down about mid February but the bottom fell out after the first ten foot rise of the water. Hopefully it'll return this fall/winter season. The cold weather will not keep my away.
