Oologah Archives

The Sandies have really moved into the creeks on Oologah. Took the wife out Friday and had a ball watching her catch them left and right! We fished lightening creek saturday and took home around 38 nice big ones.
She just had to go back Saturday, and even though the water was dropping she still had a ball catching them again! I think I cleaned 35 that evening. Nothing like watching someone catching fish that doesn't get to do it very often! The fishing was great if you want a lot of Sand Bass action! Crappie weren't in the swift creek where we were at, but I didn't try too hard. The Sandies wouldn't give a Crappie time to bite the jigs!!! I put her story on the fishing story forum if you are interested!

Going to try serious Crappie fishing again tomorow.

Had to go try it Monday ... eufala...water temp ...69...fish ....8 to 10. Feet seen a few caught shallow.... still hope to try oologah soon ..... cleaned 32 .... still hope to find them on oologah in next few weeks ... keep the reports coming in

We fished Oologah yesterday from 10-3 and I soloed from 5-7. (Lawn Mowing interrupted) It is tough to say the least. The south end of the lake is as clear as Tenkiller, it has about 6 foot visibility. We tried everywhere from the dam to Will Rogers cove on the south end. Only place we could catch a few fish fish was on the bottom in 25-30 fow. Water temps in mid 60's and fish in 25-30 fow,:dono doesnt make sense. We caught about 20 fish and kept 10-12 that were just keepers, gave them to my buddy so not sure. I went to Talala creek from 5-7 and caught 10 fish but only 5 keepers about 10 -11 inches long. I ended up turning them back. I caught them over brush in 14-18 fow. Water temp 72. I talked to a couple when I was leaving that had been there all day fishing shallow and they had 6 fish in their basket. I jigged and my buddy drop shotted minnows. My best color by far was blue/white.

Hey Bill; nope we fished under the bridge, where it goes under highway 28 over by Alluwee. I didn't have my 4 wheel drive, and took the safe route since I didn't know how bad the roads would be trying to get to the Lightening ramp. However; I would have to think that the ramp would be a good place to try, as I think it was about this time last year, Odie was telling me he was getting some good reports from there, so I went there and caught a mess of good ones a couple of days in a row. The Crappie were in the gravel bottom section along the North side. I wish I had some time off, as I would like to try them now! :)

Did anyone fish this weekend. I am curious if they are moving in yet. Still feels like they are a few days away.

I fished Saturday from 8 am - 4 pm and only caught four males. They were in their black tuxes ready to spawn.

Fished it Sat morning and afternoon for 2 dinks. Fished mostly near Redbud, and Blue Creek. Water was high, but clarity was good. Once you got up to the Winagon (sp?) bridge the clarity was pretty muddy. Our neighbors brother fished Keystone from the bank during the same time that day and had 30 over 10 in. I was shocked. I'm not sure where he was and I'm not familiar with the lake, but I'll be trying there this Friday.

Looks like the water level on Oologah is starting to come down now. Anyone have any luck in the last day or two? I'm planning on trying to get out this weekend. Any pointers on where to find them with the water level falling?

im guessing anything north of wingagon bridge is going to remain pretty muddy. you would think the bite would have to start sometime soon, but maybe this flooding totally screwed the spring bite.
