There is only two places to get them, the culvert cafe/blue herring baits (Huckabees store), but they dont open usaully till 8 or 9. Then the gas station across the street. They might be open that early IDK. Where are you coming from? I might can help you if your coming from the north end. EB

    Hey Joey,

If you go down through Haskell, Boyngton and Council Hill, stop at Doc's Country Store at the Jct. of 266. I believe they open at 6. It's where I stop when going down early. Otherwise, I just wait until I get to Crowder.

There's a combination convenience store\feedstore right down the street from Lakeside grocery and Hucklebee's place that opens around 6-6:30 that sells minnows. Pretty nice folks too.

I was going to suggest Dock's if you are coming down through Council Hill on your way. Also, there is a place a mile east of 69 hwy on Texanna Road that has good minnows, Lakeview Grocery. It would be close to on your way.

I went today by myself everyone chickened out! It was 36 degrees and the water temp was 44 degrees the visibility was 4-5 inches! They bit pretty well I probably caught around 30 and kept 25 over 10 inches. I was spider rigging minnows 8-10 ft in 10-16 fow. It doesn't matter how cold it is they still hit hard today! EB

Being sick don't count as chickening out

Snow today so though I would change the line on my reels. I have always used mono. My reels are small so though I would give Braid A try.I had tried it once before well lets just say it didnt go to well got more wind knots tangles I didnt have a good day. I went with a larger line this time hope this helps 20 lb. Power Pro. Iam going to try spider rigging this year. Does anyone use braid for this. What is the best setup? Thanks for any help.
