After a close analysis of the snake picture i think it is the dreaded copperheaded rattle moccasin.

Since none of us can change what the crappie are going to do, we have to make changes to ourselves and my game plan for the remainder of the spring is to be really flexible. When I leave the house to go fishing, I know I may try many locations before as I settle down and fish. Gotta hunt em and be persistant, good luck.![]()

@ Ranger
I was in an 20' OD Camo Fisher with a 115 Optimax on the back. When I saw how murky water North of the bridge was, I turned around and went back South and hit those boat docks with brush. Later I started searching coves with higher temps. Whenever I found a cove that had 3 to 6 degree warmer water, and a little brush, I found the fish. Many times it would be at the very back of the cover.
@ Barkett
I think the fishing will be just fine on Eufaula within another week if we don't get anymore of those Toad Stranglers. The fish I caught at Porum were on brush and I know that it was probably out of the water a week ago. I have a couple places in mind now that the lake has filled back up. I just need to get the time to go!
Like Stink said, you may have to keep looking if you're not catching them where you're at. If it's one thing I'm learning, it's that if one technique doesn't work, either change locations or change techniques. If you're not catching fish, something needs a changin'!
As for the snake, I have no idea what it is. In my younger days, it would have been a dead snake. But as I get older, I'm trying to be a kinder, gentler OkieDon and turn away from my ways of the past. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't
Phil Robertson once said something on one of his first video's that struck home with me. While he was watching a Drake Wood Duck swim around a pothole, he said "At 23, I would have killed him where he sits, at 43 I think I'm going to let him live...this time".![]()

That snake is not a copperheaded rattle moccasin. Nope not a chance.:p It is a double breasted corset snapper.:rolleyes: The most dreaded of allRofl
Thanks. Looks like I am finally going to have breakdown and look for a good fishing boat. Anyone know where a I can find a good used crappie fishing boat with a trailer? I like the deeper hulled boats to keep little ones from falling over the side. Don't need anything big. BTW, that snake looks like a Ratsnake to me but I am no expert for sure. I saw one in my cove too along with all the other muck...
and it looks like he has a keeper size perch in his gullet.
Dang SMOKY..STOP THAT I told you i don't like snakes that make me hurt myself..lol..copperheaded rattle moccasin if you ask me
