Smashed the fish on the north end!! Fish were caught shallow and we're yanked out of the water easily using the Huckabee pro series 10 footer. Fish were caught on the beaver bottom hair jig with a #2 hook. Purple head orange body. Fishing slowed down around 2pm. Today's fishing was done from the bank since the boat is out of commission .
Great job Josh, nice mess of fish! I am glad you got out despite no boat.

Good topic. Never thot about the presence of the gar relating to the crappie. If the gar are in fact there to eat the eggs, that would mean the crappie would hav to be there to lay the eggs for then to eat? Or like todd says they just like same spot. Interesting

From experience. Gar and crappie will spawn in same area. Gar spawn a little later than crappie.
What we have seen happen is if the gar come up early for their pre-spawn into those areas where crappie are, the crappie will hold tight to cover. So if you start to see lots of gar. Start fishing cover and fish so tight to it you start losing jigs.
This year the gar are very early. From buffalo to brushy gar have been thick as of week before last.
And yes the cats do line up with the gar when you see the gar doing their whale surfacing routine. Here in a week or so blocker bridge will have tons of large gar and the cats will be be on under them.

It got a little scared around midnight last night, no electric from then until about hour ago. Trees uprooted, signs busted, electric line down, did some damage. But we are ok. EB

Maybe cpd21 will post he will know more details of the damage done

TC and I were out in the boat. We'd been watching the storms for ever and when we saw the whiter flashes not far west, pulled out the smart phones and had a look at the radar. The storms were moving a lot faster than before so we decided to head for the ramp. Had the boat back in the shop and TCs stuff back in his truck about 15-20 minutes before the wrath hit. He got to drive through it while I just watched my DISH signal go away. I do believe the front created some really low pressure which may have been why neither of us got bit. He did however pick up a small blue about two hours before it hit. They can't stay away from him!

Took Junie spider rigging against her will LOL she is a 'Feel the Thump" type of girl. We spider rigged beaver bottom baits tipped with minnows in 3-8ft of water ended up catching enough for supper, I don't know what it is about those fresh fish but man there isn't anything better. EB

wheeeew.....been a long past couple of days but the storm thumped us pretty good.....lots of power lines, trees, a few roofs etc etc......everything is close to being back in place again. Biggest deal is the Lord was with us because we had No injuries. Thank you Lord and also thank you for all the prayers sent our way...

Went yesterday evening from 4:15-8:00 and caught 17 keepers. We were fishing brush, trees, and stumps in 3-7ft. The fish were pretty scattered. We caught at least 1 every place we fished. Water clarity was really good, I could see the fish in my livewell. EB
