Nip it's all trial and error for you man. Some fisherman can cast further than others. Far enough away to cast over the wood and make the retrieve. There is no golden rule just go fish and have fun......Ranger

Went with the youngest son yesterday afternoon went behind where Ranger had fished and caught 18 good keepers with several throw backs...takes a little getting used to casting and dragging....started just double dipping brush and finished casting and dragging....its a lot of fun feeling that thump when dragging through the brush

Had 47 keepers today in 5 hrs casting and dragging brushpiles in 10-18ft. Didn't have any monsters but plenty over a pound up to 1.25. Probably caught over 70 EB
EB, Sorry ... but I have talk to the State Boys and lobbied to get that technique OUTLAWED in Oklahoma. After explaining how it continues to cost me $60.00 every time I turn around ,,,,,, they toke sympathy on me and said they would take it to the floor as soon as possible. :biggrin

Now that is what makes fishing fun..."Give a man a fish, feed him for a day......."
Fished with clients Britt, Parker, and Logan today mid lake. DOW was 10' to 16' and knocking wood and green leaves off the piles we placed the last few days. Baits of choice was the pumpkin/chart slab slayer and the red/chart yum wooly bee. We ended with 47 and was tough fishing with the 25+ mph wind, lake leaches, tubers, and skiers. They have no respect for others at all........Ranger
