How long is it going to take this time for them to return to the bank after this front moves out ,,or do you think they will just give up ,Because everytime they pull up a cold front comes through and pushes em back out,,,pretty tired of this weather pattern ,,i guess its going to go straight into 100 degree days

We'll just have to wait and see, anything else is simply a guess or speculation. My "guess" is they will come back in due to the amount of eggs I am still seeing in the females. But after a certain point, if the females don't have the opportunity to lay their eggs, they will reabsorb them due to nature. Eggs are high in protein and protein is too valuable of a commodity for the crappie to lose. Hopefully by this next weekend with the temps rebounding, they will move back in. We can keep our fingers crossed............sigh

I figure thru the end of May of course I could be figuring wrong. If not just have to chase them into deeper water around cover. I love dipping trees and brush for crappie.
-
I have no problem chasin em in deeper water ,i just love the cork & jig bite ""its my favorite way to catch em""
i hope your right stink !!!

Stink the next few days will be the last phase of the spawners. Full Moon is Wed and Thursday, of course we will catch males on the beds for a while. Usaully when your catching lots of those little black males its the end of the spawn. EB

bryan, does that mean my hope of being able to catch crappie this year from the bank is basically almost over??? :( at least I still have my memories of you two taken me out last year and sending me home with a lot of crappie meat :) I am forever grateful for that time with you guys on the water

Rivieboat...lake carl blackwell has been real good from the bank. anywhere there is rocks there have been crappie. the size of fish in blackwell are not like the fish in eufaula, but there are some decent fish. Almost all the females i cleaned this weekend were still full of eggs. may be worth a drive for you

Yeah I was going to suggest Carl Blackwell too. The dock seems to be on fire year round.

Josh told me about 10 minutes ago that he knocked em out this weekend on the rocks. May have to head there Sunday my own self

Haven't been reporting much on here of late, but we have been limiting out every time out. The windier the day the better the bite. 40mph wind is tough but able to put em in the boat. Seemed to be off the bank a bit in the Longtown area. Caught most in 6-8 FOW just off bottom. Pumpkin/Chartruese wasshopper. Mixed bag of males and females.
