Fished the North end today since I had limited time to fish. Water Temp was 80.3 at 9am and got up to 82.2 at 2:45pm. Method was long poling beavertails and wollybees in pearl/chart and pumkin/chart. Cleaned a good mess of 17 and all good crappie without having to measure a single 1. DOW was anything between 5' and 10' that you could find just alittle wood and it didn't have to be alot of it either but the thicker the pile the more fish it held and the longer they stayed around without spooking. Even had a big black species too.....RangerName: Eufaula 8-29-2012.jpg

Ranger, what is a good place to launch on the north end? I would like to fish the Interstate 40 rip-rap but cannot find a ramp nearby on the map.

Fishers you have two choices, 1. Holiday cove boat ramp, its straight S.W. of the bridge. Take Lake Eufaula road towards the golf course, there will be a dirt road right before 150 boat sales, in fact there is a huge sign right by the dirt road, follow it about a mile till you see a cattle gaurd on your right, go right and it runs into the boat ramp. 2. Gentry creek camping area, it has two ramps but its farther away from the bridge about 2 miles by water. It is off 266 on your way to Dewar. Take 266 out of Checotah till you see Doc's store on the right, take a left there till you see Gentry creek recreation area, take a left and follow signs to ramp! Be careful the lake is very low! EB

Google Map it Fishers and you can find the ramps...like EB stated the lake is very low so becareful. I was running at 50mph yesterday in the middle of the lake between 150hwy bridge and I-40 and ran up on some 4' water..The bad thing is I knew it was there but had forgotten about it and I fish down that way alot too...so even us fellers that are on the water more than others runs into those tight spots also..just becareful buddy......Ranger

Fishers when you come out of holiday cove boat ramp stay to the west bank until you get closer to the bidge then cut over to it you should be fine. If you follow you nav maps the channel makes a 180 degree bend around an under water island that Ranger hit the other day. Its a foot uner the water right now. Its only dangerous when the lake is low. EB

I was able to get out and go today. We had 34 keepers today on the south end of the lake. The hot bait today was pearl baby shade with a white 1/16th ounce crappie pro head. The fish were on transition drop offs close to stumps and brush piles in 4-10 fow. We had 3 fish over 1.50 and the rest were around a pound. They were still hot on a
Summer pattern today but the water was a bit cooler than its been at 80-85 degrees. EB
