I'm only an hour fifteen minutes a way. Along with bank fishing I would like to know some boat areas as well. Thanks.

DrNip narrow down your boat areas..what part of the lake you interested in..Its a big lake, its like fishing 3 different lakes depending on what kind of water clarity you are seeking....we have red muddy water, brown muddy to stained, and clear.......Ranger
Ketchem, If I was you I think I would seek out some rap on the lower end of the lake along Elm Point, Crowder, Rock Creek, or Coal Creek and fish off the rocks. Cast down the bank with cork and jig, road runners, or minners....the fish are really refelecting to shallow wood and rocks in 2' to 5' DOW. Hope this helps....Ranger
Sorry I'm not use to huge lakes, lol. I would probably want to keep it close to I-40 as I will be coming east on it from Shawnee area.
Of course if it was worth my time to drive a little further I would. If you had one place to fish at there would would it be?
Well the north end has been pretty dirty and tough for me this spring and a few others I could mention but I would fish anywhere from the Arrowhead area to Bugtussel area which includes Crowder and Rock Creek area, Blocker Bridge area, and the lower Gaines which runs from Blocker Bridge to the mouth of Hwy 9A Bridge. Thats the part of the lake I like the most due to water color and depth. We all have our perference and that is mine. Wish you all the luck.....Ranger
Fished the Rock Creek and Crowder area early today and caught 12 nice keepers til the wakeboard boat and boarder's washed us on the bank in the narrows between the ramps and then left to fish the rap leading inot Crowder and couldn't get bit...left and went to Arrowhwad and finished with 25 total keepers. The fish I caught in the Rock Creek area were caught long poling in 3' to 5' DOW along the rap. Fish caught in the Arrowhead area were caught on cork and jig in 2' of water.......Ranger
Daren which is EB's brother climbed in the boat with me as I was leaving Crowder and fished with me in the Arrowhead area til Brain got back from his school hosting a Reginal Baseball tourney...we had a great visit and a good time.......Ranger
Ranger, you keep coming in my back yard fishing, you're going to have to hollar at me for a cup of coffee some time. I'm usually home, except today LipRipper and I fished down south in the Coal Creek area. Started out at the Blocker Bridge area, never got a bite, went on further south and got into them good in Coal Creek just west of the bridge over 69. Pumpkin\Chartreuse was the color of the day and they were in 2 feet of water.
Stink keep the coffee pot handy I might just take you up on that coffee.....glad you and Leland got into em. EB was down coal creek way early yesterday and didn't do any good..he and Darren his brother called me at about 9am and I had 12 at that time so they came to Crowder..Darren jumped in my boat when EB had other duties to attend to at the baseball field at school...we got ran off the banks from a wake boarding boat pulling 2 skiiers and wake boarder with his tanks full and making huge waves in the narrows of Rock Creek..wish I had something to teach him a few manners but I didn't..thats when we showed up at AH...picked up a few on cork and jig then started hitting the shallow brushpiles in the Blocker area......Ranger
Fished the Dam area for 5 hours on sat for the first time. Caught about ten black male crappie in the shallows in full dress and 2 black female crappie, didnt keep any. They were all from 8-10 inches, all on wood. Water was clear and only 72-73 in the late afternoon. Caught as many small bass as crappie with my jigs. Bg shad colors were what they wanted, no bright colors in that clear water I guess. Lots of boats, wont try it again till winter.
Ranger 09, you were in my area too! Jim lives very close to me, and I can see the Arrowhead ramp from my dock. Do you have a boat that says Ranger 09 on it? I talked to someone the other day while they were in that boat. I was on my dock fishing.
No coffee at my house....it would probably taste like sludge...I don't drink it or know how to make it. LOL
No it doesnt have Ranger 09 on it Peke...its a red/white Ranger VX188 Comanche with a Yamaha Motor, I do have a Crazy Angler Tackle lazer cut logo on the side though since they provide me with baits and I represent their company......Ranger
remind me not to ask for coffee at your house Peke...lol
