Decided to get out yesterday and try my hand on Graves Creek. I sold my boat last fall to my buddy, and he lives about 5 miles from there. I decided to take him up on his offer to come by and get it any time I wanted to go fishing.
I hit the water about 12:30 and headed down to the mouth. Why some of these people think they can anchor up blocking the creek is beyond me. nonono Then they give you the "look" when you start going around them!
Anyway, water temp was 55 and I started on a couple holes I've always done good in. By 2 p.m. I had caught 5 with 4 good keepers. I started working my way back up the creek since the water was getting warmer but I only caught small ones after that. The ticket seemed to be the deeper holes near the mouth in 10 to 14ft of water with brush on the bottom. If the holes were clean, you could forget about getting bit. The lucky color of the day was the new black and chrt Yum beavertails.
Wrapped it up around 5 and headed in. Talked to some who'd been there all day and they hadn't faired any better, so I didn't feel too bad (if they were telling the truth...lol)
Gonna try and make it out Sunday. Probably head down to Crowder or Gaines though.
