Crappiepappa,
I also am looking forward to fishing with you. Maybe you could bring some Bonehead stick guards next time.
Should have them by weeks end!
Off day today. Here's how bad it was. Page didn't even get a bump. It was packed inside and out. The best anyone did for most of the afternoon was about twenty, with mostly smaller fish. A number of people got zero. In about 4 1/2 hours, I got only 4 at about 14-16 feet. Then went back to 2 feet and got 37, but only three were keepers. Casting along the bank was yielding a lot of smaller fish for one guy. Beaucoups shad.
I fished there today from 10am - 4pm caught one crappie 8 inches and foul hooked several shad . I also met Paige and a few other guys very nice people there by the way
I have a kayak and was wondering if there were any other good areas besides the covered dock to find some fish?
Can't speak as an expert, but the ranger said that the dam has been good for saugeye and crappie. Some of the local guys have said they get very good crappie after it warms up some by fishing the trees. The last few times out, we have caught a lot of smaller fish just off the rocks. And no, they are not spawning. But the shad are right on the rocks, and the crappie and mud hens are eating them like crazy.
Hope that helps some, colossal.
Wow! Yesterday was 79 degrees and breezy. But on the way to CB, my little PU wanted to go sideways, with those 50+ mph gusts. I was just hoping the dock wasn't blown to Chandler. But all was good. The inside crappie were at 15-16 feet. The outside fish were anywhere from 6-16 feet. There were several guys just dipping from the rocks and getting them very shallow. I'd have joined them, but there are detriments to being a geezer and being fragile instead of agile.
