After 23 straight days building engines and getting airshow pilots ready for the big airshow, I finally got to take a day off just for myself. So, at 4 AM yesterday I met Frank300 in his drive where we promptly loaded and headed for Tenkiller. Frank had put out a couple of crappie hotels a week or so before and we were desperate to see if the fish were using them yet. They were home, but not in the mood to be coerced into a G daddy breakfast yet so we moved to another location, and same thing applied. They didn't hear the dinner bell. After a couple of more waypoints were hit we went back to the first spot. Still the crappie had lockjaw, but Frank landed a hefty flathead that he deftly handled with his Bonehead 7 ft. jigging rod. We were given a couple of good waypoints from a buddy of ours so it was plug and run time. Fish home there but same story. I ended up with none. By days end we were tired hot, thirsty, hungry and fishless to boot. Still, it was a great day on the water getting to enjoy one of the finest hobbies a guy could have. Can't wait until the crowd leaves after Labor Day and the lakes return to more serene conditions!
