13 teams fished.....our fish came from deep water on pump/treuse slabslayers 40ft dow, trees , about 15-20 ft double dipping with timmy toms on huckabee dipping rods.....tried casting and dragging but the wind wasnt very helpful with that
Oh did I tell you.......I HATE CASTING AND DRAGGING!!!!!.....lol....sorry Ranger couldn't help it
Andy
Boy and I ran out for a few hours this evening. Got to fish for about 2 hrs. Ended with 10. Pumpkin/chartreuse wasshopper and pearl/chartreuse mo magic 2.5". Cast and drag. 20-30 FOW in the wood. 10-15' Deep.
Then we spent the next 2 hrs helping some stranded boaters out. They wasn't in the best place to run out of gas with the north wind. Nice new boat I am sure doesn't look so good on the bottom once they got it loaded.
Good for you for helping them out. I really wish the marinas would be open longer than June to August. Seems like they all must make as much $ as they want then because they dont' seem interested in being open much earlier or later than that. Annoying.
couple of weeks ago wareagle and I were in I think Dry Creek and the guy at that marina said they had just taken over....cooked us a burger (which was great) and it was about 6pm
It's hard to make a profit during slower times. Sometimes it can cost them more to remain open than to just shut it down until the crowds are around. You have to consider the actual cost to open the doors, heat/air, electric, labor, inventory, insurance, toss in Obama care in some instances. If the profit is not there, why open? Also, I've had a restaurant that I worked 8 am-11 at night 7 days a week and it gets old quick. If a small business has to pay someone to be there, there is a good chance that person is going to rip off the owner in some fashion.
Amen to that Reaper
Went out today after the rain quit. Bite was tough, only caught 9. Water Temp had dropped from 67 to 63. Bites were very lite and we could only catch one fish from a pile or none at all. Pump/treuse and electric chicken were to colors of choice today. All on wood. 20-30 FOW, 15-20' deep. Man I'm tired now I'm off to work midnight's now.
Bite was awesome today. Got a very late start and had 25 keepers only keeping my limit in 21/2hrs. Had another 15 or so short fish. Caught a few on trees but not many. Most came from piles in 12' to 18'. They would not come and get it today at all, you had to sit on them and vertical. Great short day and bite......Ranger
Figures
Jamie your fishin the wrong part of the lake. Never seen another boat all afternoon......Ranger
Back in the office today fishing with Bob from Joplin Mo. 36 keepers total today from wood 12' to trees in 50'. High Standard Carbon Fiber Rods, Fle Fle Crappie Kickers in Electric Chicken and Buster Brown, BG 2" Slab Slayers in Pearl//Truse. Fish were scattered and not all wood held fish. Yesterday piles were the ticket but not so today.
Mark, you need to quit letting mama beat you around for not getting her honey do list done or your not going to be able to fish any more. Either that or you are trying some new fishing technique by trying to parachute on top of them.
Hope your back gets to feeling better.
Well was a beautiful day on Tenkiller with light breezes and warm sunshine. Saw lots of friends. Jeff n Johnny, Doug n Loy, Charlie Powell,& EB. Odie was there also although I didn't see him. All I can say is we needed 25mph winds and rain for the fish to bite. Great day with Jay McAdams and Kevin Duncan, lots of laughs and more jabs taken......Ranger
Fished this weekend, saw RDJJ, and Loy, Jeff and Johnny. Evenings seemed to be best, kept a very select few small fish and gave to someone. Let all the big females back to spawn, I hope! If Ranger doesn't catch them this week. LOL
Fish still full of eggs, I was thinking with this full moon they would be spewing eggs, but that wasn't the case for me.
Fish are where you find them, just because they weren't there in the a.m. doesn't mean they won't be there in the p.m., same day!
Fished with client Tommy Bagwell today and started at 8 and closed the LW lid at 12:15. Had our 2 man limit. After last Friday with high skies and light winds I made the comment we need some clouds and high winds to make em bite. They were in about every pile I fished. Never fished deeper than 16' all day. Big Fish was 1.95 and had 16 over 1.35. High Standard Carbon Fiber Rods, Fle Fly Crappie Kickers 21/2" and 3" in Pearl and Pearl/Chartreuse, Timmy Toms Weedless Jigs, 6lb Hi Vis Mono. The 25mph winds did make it tough but we got it done. Great Day On Some Beautiful Water.....Ranger
Good job Mark and Tommy, I'm always a day late and $5.00 short, or maybe it has something to do with skill thing.
Redge, Loy and I enjoyed visiting with you thanks for stopping by.
Back on Tenkiller yesterday with Dr. Bob and Gr'Son Wes. Got a late start at 10am due to weather. Off the water at 3:30pm with 26 big sows. Wood in 10'-14' seemed to be the trick. Tough fishing due to 30mph winds but we got it done. No pictures or stars cause they both were camera shy. High Standard Carbon Fiber Rods, 3" Crappie Kickers and Crazy Angler Slab Bandits in Salt n Pepper and Pearl/Chartreuse, Timmy Toms Weedless Jigs. WT was 71-74 degrees. Great day with good folks......Ranger
Had a cancelation for today and just had to go see if there was a mud line with all the rain we had received. Found that the water was off colored above 82 bridge. On the water at 8 and off at 1 with my limit. I didn't keep any fish today but will say I couldn't get bit deeper than 13'. Pearl and Pearl/Chartreuse 3" Crappie Kickers and can't say enough about the 6' and 6'6" High Standard Carbon Fiber Rods.
Mark, keep up the good work. Just make sure you leave some for the Crappie Camp. I'm sure it is going to take an all out effort for us to get enough for Saturday's fish fry. I know we will have to be talking and guiding what we can to help those who don't know the lake.
Been on a tear myself as of late. Just haven't had much time to post from fishing straight to the house and then straight off to work once I get home.
Heard from an acquaintance today that he and a couple of friends were tearing them up the last few days above Hwy 82 bridge. Shallow on minners.
That's a report worth sharing. Last week late it was dirty above Cherokee so that means it's clearing up. Thanks Floyd....Ranger
Got a late start today at 10am thinking I needed to be above 82 bridge. After spending 3 hours up there from the bridge, Caney Ck, up to Carter's and fishing 20 shallow piles and banks, all I can say the water is off colored and not a single bite. I should of known after seeing the water but being stubborn as I am. Ended shy of a limit from clean water between Elk Ck to Sizemore. Hard to find shallow enough wood right now but indig a few up for supper. 12' to 16' was the hot depth but also caught a few off of the tree tops as well. If the HDS doesn't show fish on it don't stop. Enough Said. I will say there is enough current that a 1/4oz jig was needed on main lake wood. Fle Fly Crappie Kickers, 6lb Vicious Hi Vis, High Standard Carbon Fiber Rods, Timmy Tom Weedless Jigs. I did catch a few females spewing eggs and released the to finish what they started......Ranger
Nice report Ranger! Aren't all crappie fisherman hard headed? I know I am! LOL
I will second the part about you being hard headed Redge! ........... LOL
Glad you caught a few Ranger.
Nope not Redge. He is a very kind hearted individual. You must a done something to him to cause him to be hard headed.
Mark says "Listen to the fish" But I tell him "We dont know what they are saying, I think somedays they just like to mess with us, so as payback we eat them LOL" EB
Brian, So you are saying FISH is not your 2nd language :biggrin
Somedays they make me feel dumb EB
EB Just want you to know you are not alone!!!
You know back in the day I heard that some people could call them up using and old hand crank phone. I never have been able to find their phone number any where. Would like to put them on speed dial on my cell phone, so if anyone out their has their number let me in on it. i did hear talk that Ranger may have it, but won't give it out to anyone.
Hey Jigging check out the Outdoor Oklahoma show on the shocking big bass on cedar lake and big blues on Texoma. Pretty cool. Blake, the guy who filmed Mark and I show on Wister, went to Cedar Lake the day before he filmed us. EB
Jigging years ago I had that number on my phone ........... until a big wave hit the front of my little flat bottom. :Rofl
They have finally gotten the Xkiller water level down so that it isn't so hard to get a boat on the water. RDJJ came over and fished Sunday morning. Definitely on fish but definitely had to beg them to bite!!!! Thanks for coming over and keeping me entertained RDJJ. Caught some nice crappie, but not very many! Did watch RDJJ wrestle with a nice flathead, guessing around 8#, let him to go to fight another day (the flathead)!! LOL
I enjoyed the trip Mr. Weber, even if we did have to break one of EB's rules "Don't Beg Them".
Mr????? It's just Redge. He answers to other names as well:yikes:biggrin
george, you got to give a man some respect that meets you at the ramp, says get in, puts you on fish. You use his rods and tackle then sends you home with all the fish. Besides he is older than I am. :Rofl
You were brought up to respect your elders. Say yes sir, yes mam etc. is this correct?
Correct! At least the brought up that way part.
Yes sir!
