How about a Suffolk Lake boat ramp report.

If I had gotten my HHR earlier I was planning on just that. By the time I got home and had camera in hand the raods were what you see in the pic and worsening.

Had about 2" of snow on the ground this morning. Left for work at 6am. Neighborhood streets were ice/fine granular snow. Slippery as all get out. 45 minutes door to door this morning.

Once I hit Portsmouth Blvd head for 58E it was mostly clear. A few patches of ice here and there. 58E was pretty good all the way to the Chesapeake city line, then it was as if they just stopped clearing the highway. Snow and ice in all 3 lanes all the way to Bowers Hill. the ramp from 664 onto 264E was sort of cleared. there was one lane cleared, but it was straddling the dashed white line between lanes.

Tunnel speed was knocked down to 25 and the Berkley Bridge was icy. Another area of one lane cleared straddling the line between lanes from the Bridge to Downtown Norfolk Surface streets. Norfolk streets were OK, but could have been better.

35mph most of the way in. Hit 2-3 spots that had me drifting with a lurch forward once I hit dry road again.

Take it easy this morning and beware of black ice.

Working a full day today and again tomorrow.

Anemometer frozen and not registering anything. Need to find a way to keep that from happening again.

    Cheers
    Doug

Well that was a waste of a morning.

Ultrasound conference and they decided to do the hands on first... were supposed to do the lectures starting at 8am but the course director decide to swap the morning session... I sat in an empty room for 2 hours waiting on them.... they get in and he tells me "Oh I didn't need you to come in for today or tomorrow"....GRRRRRRR

Roads coming back are improving but still have bad patches. 264W to Bowers Hill I recommend staying in the center lane... becomes the right lane. 664/64/264 interchange not too bad. Chesapeake section of 58W still bad, Stay Center lane. Right at the Suffolk City Limits all lanes clear to the bypass (where I exit) Portsmouth Blvd mostly clear.... side and neighborhood streets are a sheet of ice.

I will be fishing in Suffolk tomorrow. Burnt Mills is my back up plan if the other ramps are unusable as it's ramp is gravel and just about level. Really odd for me to be sitting home on a Saturday but I figured the roads and ramps would be better tomorrow.
