Had about 2" of snow on the ground this morning. Left for work at 6am. Neighborhood streets were ice/fine granular snow. Slippery as all get out. 45 minutes door to door this morning.
Once I hit Portsmouth Blvd head for 58E it was mostly clear. A few patches of ice here and there. 58E was pretty good all the way to the Chesapeake city line, then it was as if they just stopped clearing the highway. Snow and ice in all 3 lanes all the way to Bowers Hill. the ramp from 664 onto 264E was sort of cleared. there was one lane cleared, but it was straddling the dashed white line between lanes.
Tunnel speed was knocked down to 25 and the Berkley Bridge was icy. Another area of one lane cleared straddling the line between lanes from the Bridge to Downtown Norfolk Surface streets. Norfolk streets were OK, but could have been better.
35mph most of the way in. Hit 2-3 spots that had me drifting with a lurch forward once I hit dry road again.
Take it easy this morning and beware of black ice.
Working a full day today and again tomorrow.
Anemometer frozen and not registering anything. Need to find a way to keep that from happening again.
Cheers
Doug
