Thread: Beads on trolling rods

I been thinking about getting me some, scared of what I'd hear tho!!!!!!

Like G said, tie a desperate piece of line between the rod tip and first eyelet back. I put 3 fluorescent orange Pony Beads on that line. That prevents slack getting in your line and the beads making a half hitch around your rod tip. Run your main line through the beads also. The orange beads really shine brightly in the sun also.

I like the beads with a smaller hole in them, they all work tho. I really like that idea Scott, they perform better at the tip.

If I had to depend on my ears to catch fish, I would be more inclined to labeled as a conservationists!

Hope those are not your orange beads. You need help with other than your ears.

Use 2 beads and I would place them between the second and third eyes, once the pole settles down pull the line just in front of the reel up and let it back down, this settles the two beads together up against the eye and makes it easier to hear. Love to hear the click but since I use longer rods now I just can't hear them.

The idea being, the beads will bounce off the rod, or each other, when you get a bump, making a "click"? I like the idea, just the mechanics, I can't seem to grasp!
Would these only work with baitcasting rods (eyes up) or spinning (eyes down) as well?
Help a feller out y'all, I am from Florida after all.....

You got it. Once you get tuned into the “click” it will sound like a shotgun blast on a quiet day. I hear a lot of bites before I ever see them.

Im like G I can see better than hear if my eyes start getting dim guess ill switch to 6 ft. poles.
