how about a custom 72 Chevy Blazer K5... What makes this one custom is what's inside,,, another Cummins engine with all the goodies,,,,still taking bids on this one at around 16,000 right now,,,a little over budget too,,, Might have to do like I did, suck it up and buy a older s10 blazer and put a V8 in yours instead of the 4.3 that most came with,,,a lot of fun to drive and you'd even have money left over for toys for your boat,,,

The thing is I studied up for a year then looked HARD for a month before I found one I could work with. It just takes alot of time, research, and shopping to get a good deal on a decent truck now days.
I do have a little time, although I'd like to get out of this borrowed vehicle ASAP given the luck I've been having.

I am not necessarily looking for a diesel. There are tons of trucks on Craig's list that are within a few hours of me, and since quite a few are diesel I didn't want to automatically rule them out. But I definitely need to avoid something that will be high maintenance--so no 6.0 Powerstroke for me, thank you Rees. I keep coming back to this F250 7.3. It's not in my budget, but my ex might be in a position to float me a loan if I find something worthy of taking on debt.

My boat. Hahaha. The Lacrosse chest waders I bought last month are my biggest fishing investment so far. Canebreaker had about talked me into saving up for a kayak, but this will put that idea to rest.

Question yourself, why is he going to gas from diesel. Just a oil change is killer on those things and you need to do it as often as a gas burner if your going to keep it running right.

I asked myself, but I didn't know the answer. So are you saying that even if it's running properly, a diesel engine will cost more to maintain? Is there any offset, like better gas mileage, the engines last longer, anything?

I run my diesel longer between oil changes than I do my gas burner, mine holds 16 quarts of oil~!!!!!!! Also a tune up is very far apart but to do it right its starts with a new set of injectors, thats a grand for new ones and not junk. The one you posted already has new injectors but if you look at it I would want to see receipts, also DO NOT buy one that has been chipped or has a programmer in it, thats a personal thing but I have had 4 of the 7.3 powerstrokes and NEVER had a need to ad a programmer and have NEVER killed one.
I honestly think you need to be looking at gas burners, diesel's are expensive when they have to be worked on, just the parts are high. Put a water pump in mine today, first time I have ever had that issue with one of the 7.3s just the pump was a smooth 156 bucks!!!! I PULL a lot too, from my bass boat up to a 40 foot goose neck if need be, dont want to be without a diesel but I USE one too and that makes a difference.
