I would not mind a raise. I even promise to spend it on fishing, which will improve our favorite sector of the economy. That way you "taxpayers" (btw, last time I looked I was one of them) can view it as an investment! 
Oh, and by the way. Some people have no business being in a classroom at all. My solution: Fire the bad teachers and give the good teachers a raise. Simple.
