Not quite that simple Scott. It is my understanding that The bill they are proposing requires the recipients to fill out a form and admit that they openly use drugs. This must be done before they can be tested. Now I know they call it dope for a reason, but I don't think we're going to get many crackheads to do that. If they are dumb enough to admit that they are users the state must put them through rehab, at the tax payers expense. Just another example of razzle-dazzle politics that use up our money and time and accomplish nothing, It's enough to drive a working man to drink.

I have a daughter and sil who teach. Just got their masters. They are also the parents of the 2 little boys who you may remember from the contest last year, where you had to have 2 corks in the picture. She has been teacher of the year at her school and was a teacher of the year at walmart. They deserve all the pay they get and more. Yea, they get summers off. So they can get summer jobs teaching remedial classes. They put in way more than 40 hrs a week. Yet you can sit on a couch smoking crack and make almost as much. How is that fair. I'm all for teachers getting a raise, or other government workers for that matter, but someone has to pay for it. No one wants increased taxes or fees. Where will the money come from?

I don't think that just new applicants for welfare should be tested based on a questionaire. They new ones and the ones already getting welfare should be tested under the same rules that allow employers to give pre employment test and random afterwards.

I'm a teacher and love my job. I use to teach computer engineering(STEM) at the high school level but now am the Elementary PE Coach. I am not the type to whine or complain about pay and never will. If I get tired of what I make I will buy 2 zero turn lawn mowers, hire a high school drop out and mow grass here in Madison. But with that said, Mississippi is about to lose A Lot of really good teachers because of this common core mess that is coming down the pipe. And just so we are clear, if I had the same expectations has te regular classroom teachers I would demand more or I would do something else. If you have kids in public school you should just do a little research and see what teachers are about to have to put up with as it relates to Common Core guidelines.
