16 gauge insulated non stranded wire is rated for 13 amps at 60 degrees ambient air temp.
16 AWG wire is adequate to carry a 300 watt load.

Cane, there is no magic flower pot. If you burn a 100 watt bulb your going to get 100 watts of heat. Or about 340 btu's. The 12,000 - 15,000 watt oil heater? About 12-15 times as much as the light bulb.

Speck they had some in the shop I used to work at and they would burn the light sockets up pretty often....guess maybe they couldn't take the load....dunno.

After reading this I removed the lid, 122 degrees. I pointed the lazer at the 100w bulb as much as I could see, 188 degrees dropping to 176 in 30 seconds. An electric stove element gets hotter without a pot on it. The cast iron lid and clay pot absorbs the heat without the light shining in your face.

This was work related for 2 to 6 hours of an 8 hour shift. I used the same drop cord and extension cord for 26 years without issues.

"Im calling b to the total s on this..... just sayn..... and if the shoe fits wear it. Glad I aint got no feets sometime. "

Call it as you like, you always do. This isn't used to replace the central heat, just to aid it where a small heater would be used.

I compared it to the oil heater that I have in the kitchen. Not sure of how much electricity it uses in an hour. The pot heater is doing just as good, a light bulb doesn't use as much as the oil heater.
You just told us this isnt made to replace your central heat BUT your cousin used a 50 watt bulb and 3 of these and her heat barely even kicked on when it was below 10 and it almost cut her heating bill to zero. So which one is it??? Im confused now.

Now sockets are a different animal. Most sockets now days are rated for 65-100 watts. If you put a 300 watt bulb in one of those, it WOULD fry it!!!

I said she had a 3 way bulb in the pot and turned it on 50w when I was there. The 3 way bulbs I buy are 50-100-150. The 40w bulb I used first got the pot at about 95 degrees. The 100w bulb got to 115 degrees. I would have to get a 150w bulb before telling what temp it puts out.

I posted this for others that like to tinker and make things instead of store bought stuff. Not for a bunch of BS.
