Just got off the phone with my brother who is 5 years older. We do very little of the same things, so we don't talk that much. Meet for monthly family dinners at the most. I was telling him about the flower pot heater. "You bought all of my heaters at mother's carport sale after I remarried, they were replaced with Sue's flower pot heaters then. So he's been using them for 6 years.

I bet you a dollar you get 100 watts of heat out of a 100 watt bulb.

I saw this a while back, the idea is that it works like a convection oven. It might be worth trying on a larger scale, say with a couple huge pots about the size of a big green egg cooker and a larger heat source. Dunno?

I sent a couple of pictures of mine, now if he will post.
Mine are the $13 clay pots.
First I put a 40w bulb in and pluged it in for 30 minutes. Used my infrared thermometer and pointed the beam just off center of the lid, 95 degrees. Replaced with a 100w bulb and let it run for 30 minutes and tested it, 116.5 degree. My oil heater is set at 71 degrees, I point the beam at a coil, 114 degrees.
At work we had some 150w, 200w and 300w bulbs, now if I can find some to buy.
    Thank you for the link.
