I was thinking along those lines myself Cray, something to look at for sure.

Dee, my boat wont even stay on plane at 25, I like to cruise around 40 or so and run it on out when its good conditions. I use my GPS for a trackline alot and run the original track at low speed.

I have seen some crazy stuck folks have done fishing river waterways, dont know what it is but it brings out the stupod in folks.

This is what happens when you hit a stump at WOT on the Sabine River - This happened to Mike Iaconelli at a BASS tourney earlier this year. No one was seriously injured.

Thats crazy, from what you told me he was WOT and the boat got launched 90 degrees when he hit the obstruction and ran up on the bank.

I'm glad he wasn't injured and was able to finish the tourney, but I agree on the idjit part.

Put you a Sport SE 300 Hydrofoil stabilizer on it and you can stay on plane at 25. You can also get on plane quicker and it makes the boat steer better also. I have used this on my last three boats.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

The incident that happened on the Tenn Tomm was in an area that I fish all the time, me and Rees fished there a while back also. Cannot imagine how the guy driving the boat felt, it was horrific to say the least. I have been fishing that part of the river for 20 yrs and I still go thru that section of it at idle speed, I know almost every stump in it but I shut the motor down last fall goin in there and about the time the boat sat down, bammmmm I hit one, been thru there a thousand times and never imagined there was a stump rite out in the middle of the creek channel like that.

chains !! just about everyone has a jackplate . if you do , get longer bolts and use another set of nuts with washers ,put the chain loop over the bolt add washer and another nut making sure to get chain just big enough to go over bolt threads.... other end of chain onto motor or breakaway plate bolts and same thing longer bolts and nut/washer !! i remember just a few months ago gettin on my stump on another thread about this.... cost me a $1500 tiller handle,,,, 2 yr ago cost another buddy of mine 15 stiches on da head !! this is serious as you can see by speck's loss of a friend. i'm gonna get handi to post pics of my setup tommorow as im a computer dummy
