Reducing hooks or poles does nothing to reduce pressure, not taking fish out of the lake is the only way to reduce pressure. Slo trolling it is very rare to gill hook a fish, does happen pulling cranks, so the vast majority of fish released live to bite another day.
How any trollers load and unload anywhere other than a public ramp?? I would like to know to who the most over the limit citations is written to, trollers or single-polers. What does more damage, catching fish year round or only fishing when they are on the beds and inerupting the spawn??
Also, on the hook thing, I know alot of folks that use 2 jigs under a cork casting so it wont just effect trollers.

Please keep this conversation civil. Do not turn it into a nasty debate between one type of fishing and another. If it gets out of hand the thread will be deleted and all your comments here will be lost. Please, please, please, lets keep the peace. This applies to all the threads on here that have been started on this topic.

Of course a troller's odds are better but we still have to abide by the creel limit just like anyone else. That's the point!!

Default Pole Limit vs Hook Limit ?

I have really not said much so please don't take anything I say the wrong way. Let me start by saying I do troll sometimes and am not against it. But do talk to several biologists and most do not think highly about c.com and trollers and that is very wrong. My point is as y'all are going forward tread lightly and good luck.

Big C, I encourage you to get with Slab and reveal to him why these biologists think so lowly of c.com. He may have some thoughts on how to improve our image.

The MDWFP people were not supportive at the Enid meeting of the effects crappie.com has had on crappie fishing. Such as posting where they are biting, pics, etc... When I called Mr. Ron Garavelli to discuss the changes to the rod limit without a new Notice of Intent, he asked me how I had even heard about the new regulations. When I told him crappie.com, he laughed like he had been ratted out by the evil empire again. Needles to say, the MDWFP Commision meeting minutes I posted from February were only posted online the day I posted them. As far as they are concerned this should not have been public knowledge until just this past week.

I'm a bit confused about not being supportive of a group that promotes the fisheries? If not us then who in the heck are they doing all the work for--their health--seems like the wrong way for them to be looking at things to me

Rees I'm gonna take you up on pulling cranks this summer just let me know when it's time. But let me tell yall wadeing whan their spawing is work and not as easy as some of you think. You have to cover alot of ground and there aint a fish by every bush or stake bed kinda like bass fishing you got to figure out what their on may be dead wood, green bushes, grass, stake bed's,ditches, flat's and water depth.I also think they folk's that troll may hurt spawning fish more cause yall hit the big females hard when their stageing to run up shallow. When the female goes in shallow she run's in to the bed prepared by the male quickly lays her egg's then goes back out and the male stay's to protect the eggs.
