    Hey Scott
What kind of chickens you got?
Rhode island Reds or Black Sex-Links?(Brown Eggs)
    I have 14 (10 Sex-links/4 Reds)
    I get about 10-12 eggs a day.
My hens are 9 month old and laying real good.
With cost of feed, I might be better off buying eggs Ha! Ha!.
I am selling my eggs for $3.00 a Dzn. Can't keep up with the demand.

I've got Rhode Island Reds and Barred Rocks. They sure do taste better than store bought eggs.

I think it has a lot to do with what the chickens are fed. Besides commercial feed, mine get the kitchen scraps and green grass, clover and stuff.

It also has a lot to do with whats in the chicken feed.....these big egg farms trick them everyway they can to mass produce.....special lights to extend simulated daylight hours, and then steroids, and chemicals in the feed etc. Home grown like Scotts doing eating cracked corn and other grains and the other stuff he talks about.....its more natural and that makes it better I think.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

get you a rooster and that will change the taste too . lol my ex father -in law raised chickens for hatching eggs . helped him many a day thousands by hand . couldn't shake them had to put them in the crate with the small end down . got all the eggs i could eat for free .
