I was cooning a beam 180' in the air and a crane Operater swung his boom and smacked me with his headache ball. Knocked me off the beam. If I hadn't been tied off I would of fell 180' as it was I only fell 6'. Which was far enough!

I agree, just not practical on residential stuff. Times are tite now but if all the small contractors were trying to follow all the regs there wouldnt be any work going on. We use our head, ifn we think we may need to tie off we tie off, aint no shame in going home in one piece. I do some tree work from time to time and use a lift every time, ladders and chainsaws dont mix, had a cousin all most get killed about 4 weeks ago trimming a limb with a saw at his house.
Common sense will keep most folks safe and the regs help the others for sure. It is amazing what some folks will do but not on my job.
Barn looks dang good dude!!! You didnt put that red metal on that one on 397 did ya, it looks great.?

I would never get 180 up with anything like this I can assure you, big difference in that and 35 feet up, and also if I had to get 180 up my rate would definately go up tremendously lol. I worked 23 yrs at a brick plant here in town and had a lot dealings with rules and regs and OSHA and I can honestly say that had it not been for all the BS at times that place may still be up and running and I might not have to be doing this type of thing.

Na Rees I bid on it but guess my price was a little to high. That barn was and old dutch barn and theres only 3 or so left around here anywhere. THink govt money came into play on it. Some restoration bill or something paid for about 90 percent of the work done on it.

OUCH, hanging in a harness or on a belt aint always good. Some of these safety harnesses they are selling to bowhunters have caused some deaths from hanging in em too long and cut off circulation and lot more folks have lost legs due to the circulation thing, least the alive.
