Default Ok, I tried pushin CB's yesterday for the second time

I put 2oz on my line about 3 feet up and tried to stay around 1.5mph, I really couldnt tell how deep I was runnin the crankbaits until I ran up into around 11 feet and the pole I had a 200 on started to drag bottom, I looked at that reel and it was according to the line counter I had 22 feet out. so I really dont know how deep I was running most of the time any advice ? Oh yea, caught one baby striper

Did you cast out or just let the line down? For me the line counters are more accurate if I just let the line down. Also if your spool is not full of line to 1/8 of a inch from the top you will get inaccurate readings.

G, just let them straight down and I am pretty sure the line is up close to the 1/8 from top or right at it. Will have to check to make sure. As I moved the line looked as though it was pointing backwards (toward back of boat) at a 45 degree angle.

With the weight on your line just let out to the depth you want. Be sure to set your counter at zero before you let out.

According to my cyphering, at 45 degrees, you would be running at 50% of your line length. Which is verified by your hitting bottom in 11' of water with 22' of line out.

Thanks AR, I wonder if that would hold true if you are pulling a 300 instead of a 200 like was on that pole ??

maachuu.....you need to weight your lines so they will not lay back so much.

G, I guess I will have to go to 3oz instead of 2. I 8 and 10 lb on these, dont know if that will make a big difference or not
