Ok, just thought of something else, G, I fixed the loop in my line like you were talkin bout and I put the bait 3ft below the loop knot, now when I let down, I pulled up to the loop knot and zeroed out my line counters, if the weight is hangin say at 12ft, does the crank dive deeper ?

Sure does a little bit.......it is limited by the length of your line between it and the weight though.

when we are pulling cranks, our down rod with a 2 oz. weight runs 12-14 ft. deep with 22 ft. of line out.

Maachuu I use a 3 oz and started pushing rattle traps instead of cranks. They seem to get more vertical instead of dragging behind the weight. When you only have about 15 fol out the line stays pretty vertical but the more you let out the worse it will drag. I tried using two 3 oz weights at Sardis because we were in 35 to 40 fow. But it did not seem to help too much when you let out alot of line.

I pull anywhere from 6 to 9 ft. in 12 FOW when I am just pushing. Most of the time I pull though ( deeper water) and when I pull I usually push a couple of poles at the same time just to cover some water closer to the surface..
