I pull anywhere from 6 to 9 ft. in 12 FOW when I am just pushing. Most of the time I pull though ( deeper water) and when I pull I usually push a couple of poles at the same time just to cover some water closer to the surface..

I would think the same colors would be good. I just have a few that I have pick up. Most of them are some kind of silver shad pattern with different colors on top

I'm dumb. Help me not be so.

I read the 101 thread for kicks but never really planned on trying any of it Bc I don't really have a boat boat, buuut I thought when you're pushing, the heavy wait above would keep it NEAR the depth of line you let out?

Not really. At crankbait pulling speeds say 1.5 to 2.0, there's a good amount of angle back on the lines so the cranks rise up somewhere between some and a lot. Best you can do is guestimate and deduct for the angle.

Has anyone experimented with lead line?

Some folks ain't readin what he's sayin. He said his lines are at a 45* angle toward the back of the boat. Now ifn you jus let out 12' of line it ain't gonna be 12' deep. I don't care how much weight is on it. It's gonna be closer to 8' deep. I mean, ifn he puts 3 pounds of weight on it and the lines are still angled back, the bait has risen.

If you are pushing 300's the big lip of the bait will cause more angle in the water because of the drag of the lip biting more water compared to a 200, 100, or a lipless bait. So the bait will ride higher in the water column. For pushing I like the baits with the smaller lips because the weights are getting it to the depth I want to run without the angle putting the bait back under or near the boat. It also lets me know that my line counters are more accurate to the depth I want to fish.

yea I pushed a few 100s with 5 oz of weight. but I did mine like a drop-shot rig... At 2 mph I still had a little angle in the line, but it was only enough to create a 2ft diff in the amt of line I had out and the depth I was running(judging off water depth)

I pushed cranks for the 1st time Sunday morning. 2oz lead 4' above 200 series Bandit at 1.5 mph with 10 lbs hiviz Viscious mono. Line counters zero'd at the lead. Stayed in 15-20 FOW and I could see a heavy line across my depth finder (Humminbird 858c using US2 on M/K PD) just under the 10' mark when my line counter said 15'. I let more line out and reel up some while watching the depth finder and the line on the depth finder would move accordingly up or down. I was using 16 & 14' poles straight out the front. If I let more than 20' of line out I would loose the line on the depth finder. I am guessing because the bait/lead had passed to far behind the 'ducer to read them. Caught fish that I was marking when I kept the "line" (baits) running just above schools. I will check the next trip over deeper water and more line out to see if the rear transducer will pick up the baits so I can get a better read on how much lead/line will = a certain running depth.
