Also when you raise the jack plate you will have a slight increase in rpm's and he is already running too high. Those who say he is over pitched on the prop are wrong also because a increase in pitch will decrease rpms.......this is kinda why I keep thinking he has a hub that is slipping a little bit.

Wannabe is right ES....as wide as your boat is you need less pitch.......but your turning 5800 now and less pitch is going to bring those rpms up a little higher so you need to see what Mariner reccomendations are for the max rpm's on your motor. .......I have a feeling that a 19 will do the job for ya. read the whole thread Tracy.....that was a guess before we had all the specs etc. his rpms are high according to the specs that someone else looked up on that motor ( and that may not be right either), they are 550 above max......so he sure does not need to go down in pitch.....I guessing maybe he has a slightly slipping prop hub thats makeing his rpms high and because of the slipping he cannot plane off good. Something is wrong rpm's too high running a 20 pitch don't ya think? If I was him I would go to a prop shop and tell them what its doing and ask some questions.
