I've got #6 hard wires to the motor with 50 amp breaker. The #8 wire on the motor is a factory flaw IMHO but they can get away with it since its a short run into the motor and will not perceptibly drop any voltage.

I'm no help on the anchor but I'm sure #8 is fine and I'm guessing a 30 amp but u need to check with install instructions on it.
