    Don,
    On your drawing, unhook both jumpers and re hook neg#1 to pos #2, and neg#2 to pos #3. Ohm meter will show you 36 volts going to t/m. Should fix your prob. #1 pos, and #3 neg will give you 36 v

    If I remember correctly from electrician school, the higher the voltage the lower the amperage. In other words a 100 lb. thrust 36v won't pull anymore amps than a 33.3 lb. thrust 12 v. In other words you don't need #4 wire.
