Most boats of your vintage ran 3 wires to the TM, 2 hot and 1 ground and combined at the plug for the ability to switch from 12 to 24V on your TM....like the one you had before the Terrova.

Just stick them red and black wires on your tongue and see if it tingles. Thats how I check the 9V batteries I got in stuff at home. Wouldn't think there would be much difference between 9V and 36V.
