Just to share a couple of things from my 1st days with hearing aids many years ago. I got dressed for work in the dark, laced up my shoes and started to kitchen to start coffee. I stopped short about halfway down the hall because I heard a swishing sound in the quiet dark house. Another couple of steps, heard it again.
By the time I got to kitchen I had figured out it was my shoelaces swishing against my shoes. Probably been 15 years since I heard that sound.
I walked out on my porch (we lived on some acreage so no neighbors). It was raining softly and I could hear the rain falling on the leaves in the woods. What a peaceful, relaxing sound and one that had been absent for many years.
The 3rd memory involved a fishing trip with a box of crickets in the back floorboard. Never knew they were such noisy critters!!
You are missing a lot more than you realize. If you can't hear those sounds you don't know you're missing them.
