I have spent many a day fishing with a Higgins like that....had a braided line on it....and a fiberglass rod.....fished the Pearl river for catfish around Jackson (on the Natchez Trace) before they built the dam for the Barnett reservoir....we would buy a package of frozen shrimp for bait....put it in the edge of the river to thaw......put a big weight on and throw out and fish the bottom....if we didn't have $ for shrimp we would dig mussles out of the sandbars for bait...thanks dad for the memories......
