I have a Missouri CCW permit. I carry a gun 24/7, due to my job selling fireworks, travel out of state and also due to just what happened to you Dans pain. The trouble I have is all the laws protect the crooks! If I go outside and catch someone stealing my pickup and I pull a gun before the person does that is stealing my pickup I go to jail. If I pull into the driveway of one of the family farms and see someone stealing my cattle by loading them in a trailer, due to the fact that I have a CCW permit, I can not block their way of leaving. I have to let them leave, and call the law. If I pull a gun without them pulling a gun on me first I go to jail.
The way the Missouri CCW permit law is written and also all the other laws in Missouri you can not introduce deadly force without the crook introducing deadly force first.
Granted it would be very hard for me to not pull a gun if I was ever put into either one of the above spots. Like a law enforcement offical of Missouri told me once dead men don't have nothing to say. I guess I will cross that bridge when it happens one way or the other.
In some of the other states that I work out of if you catch someone just breaking into your pickup in your driveway you can just blow them away without any chance of going to jail. Maybe one of these days the morons in Jefferson City will wake up and change the laws!
