The VRO disconnect on a motor of that age I agree completely, another simple thing that can cost you the motor.

Now I have a question for you all. I think Johnny us using the best method to test his motor using a barrel with a lot of water. Some people swear by the boots but I always thought the water pressure from the hose could potentially hide water pump issues. What do you all think?
Yea I used the muffs last year and did not trust them at all, didnt seem to me like the muffs was gettin enuff water in there so i decided to get a 50 gal water tank from orschelns, which is deep enuff to lower the motor into it and pretty much submerge the lower end.

I`ve decided to take it to the shop tues and have it gone over, fix the alarm/impeller issue, tune up and plugs, disconnect vro , I think I will feel better about things
