    Default whatdaya think?

for the first time this year i fired up the boat motor, i had it in a big tub of water that completely covers the lower unit, after several minutes of cranking she finally started( its a 1988 evinrude vr4 110 hp) after starting it took awhile for it to start peeing and when it did it came out strong then decreased in strength, after running for about 10 mins an alarm started going off and the pee stream was still running but very warm to the touch and not as strong.

could it be water pump/impeller needs replaced ?

whatever it is, THIS AINT NO WAY TO START THE SEASON

I have read this concerning motors that haven't been run for years, but I think it is good info for some yearly to-dos if your boat is stored for many months.
It sounds like the impeller may not be working properly (read my signature at the bottom of my post, cause' I don't know a heck of allot about boats and motors)

My guess is an impeller, they are cheap and easy to put in and i would bet that would fix it.

Same thing happened to us 2 years ago, only out on the water. It was the impeller/water pump. Took it to bass pro and they fixed it in no time, pretty cheap too.

Thanks for the input guys, I`ve only had the boat for a year and the motor is 22 years old and since I have no idea what kind of upkeep the previous owner/s have done to it I`m just gonna take it to a mechanic and have everything checked just to be on the safe side, also I think I`m gonna have the VRO disconnected and just mix the gas/oil
