Good evening gentlemen(that term should cover most of y'all by the looks of it haha),
The name is Matt, I have lurked around long enough and decided to join up. I am a young gun I guess at 26, but I have been fishing for as long as I remember. I grew up as a loyal B.A.S.S fan and was out bass fishing at every possible moment. When Dad couldn't take me out in the bass boat I was running trot lines and jugs out of a canoe! During college I supplemented my Income guiding fishing charters in the Louisiana marshes and offshore waters. I fell in love with big game (Marlin, Tuna, Wahoo, Etc) trolling and did it every chance i could get. But life had other Ideas and I found myself back in my birthplace of Jackson MS living on Pelahatchie Bay.
I guess after 1000's of red fish, largemouths just didn't hold that much appeal to me anymore. All i ever knew about crappie was that with a bucket of minnows and i jig pole, I could load up walking along the piers at the Jackson Yacht Club pretty much year around if you knew where to look. Then i found out about crappie trolling! BooYah!! I love the process! I even started doing it out of my 32' offshore rig with twin 200's ( I could watch the boats group up on big schools by watching them all on my radar, like following the birds offshore)!
But alas, life is tough, and I suddenly lost my mentor, fishing partner, and father to a sudden early heart attack. Now fuel prices keeps the big rig on the trailer until i can find a party of guys to split cost. I'm in the process of decking out my little Tracker Panfish17' Stick Steer, that I inherited from dad, to be a crappie machine! I even told my wife that she could rest easy because there was no way crappie fishing could match my expenses from my other aquatic pursuits........needless to say, I was wrong!
I fish the Rez most every week. If you see a young guy with curly hair flying solo in a newer tracker with a stick steer, please feel free to stop by and say hey. I can always bend and ear and share some stories when it comes to fishing.
Welcome aboard!!!! Sorry for the loss of your father. you have pretty much lied to the bride tho, good luck with that one as well.:Rofl
Welcome . I myself get out on the rez as much as possible . I have fished all my life but crappie fishing like these guys is new . Best of luck on keeping the cost down . Good fishing on barnett .
Welcome MidMS. I live on the other side of the Rez. Hope to see you on the water. I have a grey Pro Crappie 175 with a Merc.
New to posting-long time lurker. Former green carp guy that saw the light about 6-7 years ago. Enjoy reading crappie technics-learned alot about spider rigging and crankbait trolling on the sippi site.
I have fished with sippi guides four times and learned how to catch dinks in southern Il. Plan on trying to fish with Feelay in October.
Met several of the sippi 'characters' at the Sardis camp in 2011-BRM,Billbob and several more. I read the site everyday to get my 'fix'.
Will put the spring camp on the calendar-thanks.
Hello all,
I am 37 yrs old, from missouri and was raised fishing truman, I now live in Kansas and fish hillsdale lake mostly. It is a small lake (5,000 acres), but close to the house. Checking Ms out because I have two trips planned to Grenada this year and hope to learn from the old geezers on here that catch fish. You know the type....john boat, sun hat, overalls.....but always catch crappie! Hopefully I have a couple good trips to Grenada and can make it an annual thing. Thanks and best wishes.
Welcome aboard
Thanks G, I know many fisherman do not like to share their spots because they are afraid everyone and their brother will be there....I can totally understand and am a little tight lipped about my best spots. But are there fishing reports on here that I can view? Also, most lakes I can find a website either state or core that gives current water temps, does anyone know of a site for Grenada? As I get closer to my trips, Mid March and last part of March I would like to know how the fish are biting....it will keep me pumped! Not sure if this is the correct forum page for this but just reaching out.
Welcome ghinshaw. I saw some contact info for Grenada a few days ago, will try to find it and post it for you.

Maybe this will help.
Welcome to CC ghinshaw. You'll learn alot here ( but prolly need to forget most of it ):biggrin
Ive been reading for awhile now but just recently decided to register. I enjoy fishing for pretty much anything that will bite and do most of my fishing in a private reservoir, oxbows, and game and fish lakes.
Ill probably continue to read alot more than I post because I can learn more that way and this is a great site that is filled with information and knowledgable people.
Welcome arkman, glad you decided to say hello.
Thanks!
Welcome from N W Miss.

I have fished all my life, from Mi, ga, and noe Fl, last twenty plus years. Most of my Fl fishing is flats, speckled trout, redfish, cobia, some grouper..I live a few miles from the Withlacoochie River, and want to learn to fish it.
Welcome Dowawoo, I love fishing for the ones you listed but you have come to the right place to learn crappie fishing.
Hi, everyone. Started crappie fishing last year without much success. Enjoy reading and hope to learn the ropes. I'm from south central ms. Anyone know a sure spot down here please fill me in.
Hi all. I'm hailing from Noxubee County in the east central part of the state. My fishing interest has been mostly inshore saltwater down in southeast Louisiana, but I get so tired of jerking my boat 5 hours down there that I'm ready to try some other kind of fishing closer to home. I've been snooping around reading this forum for the last while and I've started to feel like a voyeur, so I'm finally jumping in! I'm certainly looking forward to the ride.
Welcome from south central ms. This is a great site and very very nice folks here. Just started myself.
Welcome from Jackson. What area are you fishing?
I know how your feel. I grew up fishing Terrebonne from Fouchon' to Cocodrie. Started fishing offshore out of Venice but had to curb that habit when it cost $200 just to tow my boat down.
Howdy! I've somehow fallen in love with the Delacroix area. Put in at a marina down there called "Sweetwater". I love it, but its exactly like you say, it takes me about $160 just to drive down there and back. So, it seems to me that this time of the year that we are coming in to should be a great time to get started crappie fishing.
Welcome from NW Delta Miss.
Hey all. Well after a short time of just lurking around the site I decided to break down and join. Seems like a great site and very informative. I am fairly new to crappie fishing, but I have quickly become addicted to it thanks mostly to my fishing partner (Slab Slinger). I work in an office 8-5 monday through friday so when the weekend comes you can bet I will be on the water somewhere with the rest of the weekend warriors. Anyway enough with the introduction, looking forward to interacting with you gewbers!
Welcome aboard.....now we have two rip a lips
Didnt know you could have two with the same screen name on here.
Been lurking for a few months and finally joined. Great site and full off information, glad to be here.
