Name is Mike, I retired from the USAF in 1988 and from ADT October 2010. Used to fish regular but due to work, health and Katrina, I haven't fished for several years. I'm now retired and getting back into in heavy. Naturally, when I wasn't fishing I gave all my equipment to my nephew and now I'm having to buy everything new. I love the shopping though, and thank heavens I have an understanding wife.
welcome to the board Mike!
Welcome form the NW side of the state.
Hi,
My wife and I fish Arkabutla, Sardis, and Enid. Arkabutla is our main lake. Lakeview was on the list until they closed it.
I use to read the MDWFP forum before they closed it down. From what I've read so far this seems to be a very informative site. Thanks to everyone for good information, and I'll try to add some if I can.
Thanks
Welcome to the site, you can learn a lot here from most all of the guys. Dont pay any attention to one in particular and that would be Wannabe since he is full of it. You know what --IT is! lol.
Thank You!
Lived in Memphis most of my life. Fished a lot of local lakes close to home with my dad. Island 40, Dacus,Wapanocca,Sardis,Enid,Lakeview,Tunica. My grandfather, Stanley Moore was a commercial fisherman on Sardis, so as a young boy, I spent my entire summers down there with my grandmaw and grandpaw. My grandmaw, Helen Moore was a better crappie fisherman than my grandad. They lived off the river chute coming out of the lower lake.We bank fished a lot with some poles she cut that had to be 20ft. long. She knew that spillway like the back of her hand! She would put me in a spot between 2 other people and I would be catchin the daylights out of fish while people on either side was doing hardly nothing! FISHING IS IN MY BLOOD!!! I moved to Southaven 12 years ago and I fish The Butla more than any of the big 3 because it is so close.Once I feel I can go there and catch fish anytime, then I'll move down to Sardis and work on it a while! I really love the knowledge of fishing I have found on this web-site and I hope I can get to know everyone here a lot better.I have a dumb question to ask and that's how do you add a picture to your username on the threads and a quote to live by. Any help will be greatly appreciated.Well my 1 finger is about tired from all this pecking so I'm going to give it a rest. OLD FISHERMAN NEVER DIE, THEY JUST SMELL THAT WAY!!!!!

Morning All,
Some of you are buddies from another forum and it's high time I made it over here. I used to crappie fish Eagle Lake and Pelahatchie Bay bout 15 to 20 years ago. Ready to get back into it. Finally got issues with my boat worked out last August so I'm ready to rig for perch and hit it hard here on my home lake the Ross Barnett. I live on one of the creeks on the south side of Pelahatchie Bay so once the boat's in the water it's just a hop, skip, and a jump to perching territory when time allows.
Big shout out to Stump, DonDon, and ReesGuide as well as any of my other buddies from other forums!
Welcome aboard Todd, good to have ya. You'll get to use your waders for more than just fishing round here.
Just to say Hi. Live in the Ocean Springs area. I retired from the USAF and from trucking. I enjoy peddling, paddling around in my Hobie kayak on the local streams. I really like fishing from the kayak. Hope to see some of you guy on the waters of south Mississippi.
New here, fish in Ia and Mn for lots of years. Going to Sardis, Grenada next weekend, wish us luck.
As low as those lakes are you are gonna need a lot more than LUCK!
Hey guys I've been here about a week so I thought it might be time to introduce myself. My name is Cody and I'm 23 years old. I am from Pontotoc and the water I grew up fishing is Grenada. I enjoy single pole jigging when the fish start moving up. I noticed some of you from bull-nettle forum and I'm on there as well but my screename there is death_of_tom. Thanks!
Welcome to the site, wade right in!
Hello folks! My name is Richard. Lived in Vicksburg all my life.Use to fish a lot till kids, bills and other hobbies took over.Rediscovered my love of fishing about three years ago.My first love is bass fishing but crappie and bream are becoming a big part of my fishing fun.Guess thats my reason for being on here...to learn more about crappie fishing.I don't have any plans to fish crappie tournaments just want to learn to catch better fish, fish different water and have a little fun while I still can.RTJ
Been crappie fishing for a long while and love it, but I bass fish mostly so dont beat on me to bad. Fish Lake Fork Texas mostly for both species and I travel Mississippi once a year with my lady to visit the Father-in-law in Como, so we get to fish Sardis mostly, Enid and Grenada sometimes. My PB came from Sardis 4 years ago at 3.1. My PB in Texas is from Fork at 2.5. Cant wait to get back to Mississippi and catch some more slabs and eat me some good food.
Stay off my lake!....just kiddin....welcome
I am new to the board. I have been reading most every day for about a year and a half now and finally decided to join. My home lake is Grenada and that is the only place I have ever crappie fished except for a trip to Sardis two years ago. I have fished a couple of MCC tournaments and would like to fish some of the tournaments on here if possible.
I'm happy to be on this site and wanted to introduce myself. Some of you may have seen me around. I am from Memphis and I am with the TN National Guard, I am always in uniform fishing Northern Mississippi. I fish Hurricane, Coldwater, Arkabutla and anywhere else I think fish might be biting. I'm 40 years old and have been fishing for 35 of those 40 years. It doesn't matter where I go or where I am stationed I will find a way to fish. I'll fish for bass or cats but there ain't nothing like the sound of your cork going "BLOOP" when a slab crappie hits it. I've started wading alot lately in attempts to make it to the far reached stumps that I think crappie are spawning and much to my surprise they're just not there. Maybe the water temp is not right or the depth is wrong I'm not sure, but they are not on the stumps. I've been finding them around the base of large trees. See ya on the lake!
Welcome aboard
Hello all,
I'm from Fulton,MS and I am new to Crappie fishing. I live within 30 min of every boat ramp on the TennTom from Amory to Bay Springs. I have a Pro Angler 16' with a 20 horse Merc. Would like to get to know some of you guys and learn as much about crappie fishing as I can. I'm 40 yrs old and mostly fish alone but occasionally my 12yr old son or wife will accompany me. I work a rotating shift so my hours vary every two weeks, but give me a holler if your going anywhere close to me and I'll see if I can swing it so I can catch some pointers and possibly make a new fishing friend.
Thanks!

Thanks to those two I am now more into crappie fishing than ever before. I used to bass fish alot, but now its all about crappie. I look forward to meeting everyone.
Thanks,

Hello, I am from Pontotoc, MS. I have never really been a fisherman, just playing at it from time to time, but now I have a 5 year old great grandaughter that has fallen in love with fishing. She loves fishing and I love her, so put 2 and 2 together. I need to learn a little more about fishing and what little crappie fishing I have done tells me that this is the way I want to go. Besides, they taste gool. Help me please learn to crappie fish.

:)
Im 25 years old and born in the great state of MS. Federal correctional officer in Yazoo City MS. Ive been dropping deer, dove, and a few turkey hunts but fishing is my passion mainly ponds for bass and sometimes bream coming up as a kid. For the past two years have been crappie fishing pretty hard and found myself getting addicted very soon after. Fished Barnett a few times, but mainly fish Grenada on my off days. Still learning, but always keep a freezer full of slabs.
:biggrin

Hello all,
Wanted to introduce myself to the community. I have been "lurking" around here for about a year without actually ever posting. Anyway, I finally bought myself a boat and I am getting back into the game. I gew up fishing and hunting in the MS delta, but college and then a career and then five children ate up most of my free time. My last two daughters graduated from High School last month, so........... I bought a boat. To be more acurate, my Wife bought me a boat. (Eat your hearts out, guys) I consider it a reward for twenty-five years of good behavior. She is a 2002 Polar Kraft, Bass America 176FF. (The boat, not the wife)
I grew up fishing Grenada in the 60's, 70's, and 80's, and I still live in the area, so I suppose this will be my home lake.
Hope I get a chance to meet some of you guys on the water this summer!
JK
Welcome--watch out for WB and Rees Guide--they from your neck of the woods:)

Never had a boat until this spring but been pulling cranks with my father in law on his boat last year. Enid is where I normally go and have been pulling cranks for about 4 weeks already. Hope to learn more methods and meet some of yall.
