No fishing for me since a week ago Saturday. Last trip out with 30 mins to go, my ultrex told a dump. Started licking heel to toe and couldn’t change the speed. Using remote, it would turn when locked but still no speed control. No worries, figured bad board which is fairly common and PTG Outdoors to the rescue.

Stripped electronic and fishing gear and dropped boat. Next day, they report board is fine but one of lithiums is bad.

Uh oh.

I pick up and check. I have 2 Ionic 100 ah about 2 years old. Sure enough, on volt meter, less than 2 volts from one. App shows 14.2. Charge on my NOC and output is 14.2. Run TM for a short time and back to under 2 while app shows 14 and good health with 99% charge. No worries though, I know how ionic stands behind their batteries.

Called customer service and working the hour had return RMA and labels. Packed and shipped same day.

Waiting on repair and replacement now.

With that said, I’m about to go stir crazy. There is only so much grass you can cut and clean up around the shop a fella should be expected to do without a fishing trip to break things up.

While I’m at it, I ordered another 100 ah to replace my 50 ah for electronics. On an 8 hour trip, sometimes I’ll use 70% of the capacity and I’ve got a feeling that next time I go, it’s liable to be a 16 hour trip.

Wannabe…
