I think it would be a dark dark day if I couldn’t get up and go fishing cause it wasn’t in season.

Yep that’s exactly what I’m telling you. Have you ever seen a school of shad 15’ wide and 30’ long? I haven’t.![]()
Have you ever seen an Asian carp? Have you had them jump in the boat?
The picture you posted just backs up what I said. Someone is going to see those little ones schooled up and decided to catch them for bait to use at Sardis, Enid, ect. When he does and some get loose it’s over.
Believe what you want or whatever some government biologists says, short fish come and go, this needs to be front and center now before it happens.

Yep i agree something needs to be done. But to identify them swimming at 2inches long ,i couldnt positively identify them. Now if you had a cast net it would be different.I know from throwing cast nets in the creek to catch bait to creek fish with theres all kinds of small bait that i dont have a clue what they are.Yep and some idiot is gonna transport them somewhere they dont need to be when cstching bait,i agree.Have also caught them and had them jump in the boat.Ky lake is coverd up with them the last couple yrs and im on the lake probally every week of the year, maybe i need glasses dunno.

I have no opinions on this and will follow the rules whatever they may be. Lots of good posts. My late Dad always thought that crappie fishing should be closed from mid March to end of April. Seems that may be the only fair way to do it without preventing each person from fishing the way he/she likes at different times of year. In the end, whatever the biologists see fit to better our lakes, we have to respect their decisions for the benefit of our lakes. They are doing a great job, and will continue to do so. As I have stated before, where else in the country, or the world for that matter, do you have lakes with this much fishing pressure that still produce outstanding fishing for numbers and size? Bet you can't name any. It all goes back to lake management. Just let the professionals do their job, and just enjoy what we are blessed with. If rule changes are necessary, just adapt and worry about it then. We should all be in favor of what is best for our great fishing lakes. My 2 cents, lol.
rebranger thanked you for this post
Another thing people probally arnt thinking about when complaining about the guides is tourism dollars and the local economy.I know when i come down with a friend and stay one night we probally $200-300,when we get a guide probally around $650.I dont really know anything about the big 4 lakes,i have never talked to biologist or anyone about them.I do know when i come down it seems easy for an out of towner to catch fish, thats the only reason i think the regulations in place are working.

A bright side to look at. If they limit trolling, I can sell all my crankbaits, spider-rigging rods, line counters, spinning reels, storage boxes, trolling racks, 1,2,3, and 4 oz. weights cause they may be a little heavy for single poling, a couple of depth finders, planer boards, etc., etc. My wife will be happy because with all the proceeds, I can buy her some new clothes and take her on a trip that she has been wanting. Lol.
What I would like to know is how does everyone know that the biologists are doing or even getting to do their job ? How do y'all know that bureaucrats aren't making the final decisions?
Yep,whats sad is in tn when they have a meeting about the fishery they also look at what the majority want.By majority i mean the majority of the people that came to the meeting want.Thats how this country wirks anymore no matter what the creel data shows, pitiful.
