No. that's isn't correct. The push and pull is to adjust the rod tip height from the water on the Tite Lok. The Knob adjustment under the rod is for setting the distance the rod holder is from you. You can set them as close or far away from you as you want. Adjust them once when doing your setup and you're done. The lower you set the front of the holder the closer to you the butt of the rod is when your rod tip is the right height out of the water. The higher you set the front of the holder, the farther the rod butt is away from you when you set your rod tip height from the water. Lots of people don't know that even if they use them.
Once you set the Tite Loks up, there are no screws or tools needed regardless of whether you adjust your rod tips up or down or left or right to spread them out more. It's all done on the ball mount similar to a ram mount. You can run a 3 oz weight on one pole and a 1/2 oz on another and adjust the tips the same height from the water in a split second. Easy to change your rig weights and styles and adjust them for that too. Only takes a second. With the Driftmaster you can't adjust the distance the holder is from you separately from the tip height adjustment for up and down once you mount them to the deck.
Both are good, well made products, but the C&C are way more popular on the pro circuits. Not that that might matter to you, but there is a reason for it. I do use some other style Driftmaster products for other techniques like pulling cranks, but I also pull with the Tite Lok T-Bars both off the side and at the transom.
