Got ya, didnt fish up there then except for a green carp tourney every now and then. Heck I dont fish up there much now except for a tourney, last couple of years has been crazy good up there.
This thread is a prime example of folks never being satisfied, the year before the size change you coulf not catch a keeper on Sardis, millions of short fish, litterally caught over a 100 one day and no keepers, fish up a pound of minners and very few if any keepers. The next year was better and the size change came and by then really just wasnt needed but did no harm as the fish werent in that size range anyways. That season and the next would be monumental, unreal, fish caught everywhere. No if someone goes fishing up there they think they are supposed to limit out every time and it just aint happening, matter fact limits are far and few between. Its fishing, if you arent enjoying your day on the lake because you arent catching fish then go home and cut grass or go back to work. As I said last weekend, I saw less trucks and trailers at Engineers in 2 morning than I would in one morning normally, she is tending to herself and will be back.
These numbers are low but one female lays 1000 (very low) eggs, say 10,000 spawn out, thats 10,000,000 fry, lets say 1/2 of a percent of those make it to legal length, thats 500,000 legal fish in say 4 years. these numbers are very conservative too, crappie lay way more eggs than that and way more than any 10,000 females will spawn out in Sardis lake this spring. The sky aint falling, its just fishing. Headed that way this afternoon for a few days, will report back to this thread my findings, will keep up with every throw back and every keepers (if any) and take some pics I hope.
