Has anyone boohooing about the fishing bothered to talk to the biologist who actually work these lakes and help descide the regs??? If not you really should! You would actually learn some really important facts and be very suprised at alot of the answers they give you. You would actualy learn alot about what you THOUGHT you knew about the fish population and health on the lakes. I know i did, i'v taken the time to talk to a few of them at length and was very pleased with the info that they shared from there work and studies from this yr and the preveious 2yrs.

The biologist say eighty percent of the fish go out the flood gates. I'm really starting to doubt that theory. After two hard winters, the Sardis lower lake didn't produce. I'm leaning toward low numbers is us catching them and spawn survival. You folks are right about low numbers being better than over populated. When a lake over populates, about the only thing you can do is kill it out and start over.
    Tell'em I'll be there.

I personally think it's all a educated guess on what to do due to the fact you can control the limits but amount of fishing pressure will not be constant .Throw in the various water levels and you may as well have left mother nature do her thing and stayed at 10 inches .Seems like putting pressure on larger fish depletes the larger fish and a fair percentage of the under size throwbacks . The dept. of Wildlife, fisheries and parks do what they can but no way they make a dent in violators . After the spawn and no tournament, I never see a warden much less a controlling number . I am not nocking the M.D.W.F.P. They are lucky to get 40 hours pay and gas to get to the lake .

Saw game wardens twice at hurricane this year one time he was just driving by. The other time he checked me and said expect low numbers the lake is missing a class of fish and they had a bad spawn that year. Maybe 12 boats launched Saturday. Maybe 6 Friday.

I still say catching fish off the spawning beds is a bad idea.
I may be getting older but I refuse to grow up.

She's taking care of herself, less than 25 trucks at Engineers this morning at 11. 7 or 8 at Beach point but most of them were green carp fishing.

Nobody wants to "fish", limits are all that matter. I always consider catching enough to feed my family (usually 6 fish) a successful day. People are lazy and greedy.

So catching pre spawned fish before they make it to the beds is a good idea.
