In state vs out of state fisherman can be a devisive topic. We just had a family reunion in Calico Rock Ar. Cabin rentals, boat rentals, out of state lic plus trout stamp not to mention groceries gas, etc. The folks up there were very nice and happy to take our MS money. By the second day we had figured out the trout and brought limits to the bank.

Next time you go to your favorite local baitshop think about this, It very well could be out of state money that keeps the lights on and the doors open.

As far as I know, Walmart don't sell minners as of yet. The local baitshop is the last vestage of the "traditional Mom and Pop store".

Next time you see out of state plates at the ramp, remember they are part reason why you can convienently pickup your bait so close to the lake.

I don't use minners, and the bait shops were doing just fine 20 years ago.

Wow, I know of at least 5 that have closed and not been replaced in the last 20 years just around Grenada.

That's right!!! We don't need any Gaw danged out of state money coming in here. We should just close off the state completely. No one gets in, no one gets out. We keep our fish to ourselves gawdangit.
Sorry kids, we can't go to Florida for vacation. We ain't spendin our money out of state by Gawd. You'll just have to wait for Disney to open a park in Alligator Mississippi. We will go to Tunica instead. They will need our business once we cut off all those pesky out a staters from spendin their money there.

I have had a good many out of state folks in my boat this spring and without exception they took better care of OUR resources than we do, without exception. I even watched one turn back a 3.04 male at Nader, was a site to see as that bog ole boy swam away. Saw a couple young men from Ohio put out their cigarettes and put the butt in their pockets, never threw the first one in the lake. They consider it an honor and a privilege to be able to come to OUR state and fish. For some it was a dream come true, saw many catch the BIGGEST fish of their life this spring, was fun sharing that with them. Amazing that we take it for granted the way we do and we cry when someone else wanting to enjoy it too. I spend way less in a month fishing than any of then spent in 3 or 4 days, which is better for the economy??
Yall have fun, ifn you see out of state numbers on a boat swing by and say hello, heck most of em are bigger rednecks than we are!!!!

    ^^^^^+1000 to the umpteenth power^^^^^^

PS... I agree with the sentiments of the OP. As a guy who still works (er....sort of, anyways) and tries to go to church on Sundays, I don't get to spend as much time on the water as some other fellows.

I really appreciate any information you "lucky" everyday fishermen feel generous enough to throw my way!!!
If I don't say it often enough, I will say it now.
    Thanks!!!
