I have heard a few of these stories too,but on my end of the lake we have found a small area with a fair number of small adult fish almost averaging 12" with a few 10" fish mixed in. Big sunfish are here in small numbers too, but many fish are suspended in deep water but that's sure to change within 90 days. 3lb fish are not common even here but there are definitely a quantity here and they are magnificent! A 3lb Black Crappie need only be 17" long here because they are so thick throughout and not just at the belly. So that yarn about catching that many huge ones almost anywhere else in the world would be unbelievable. Here it very well may be true! Years ago we won a crappie tournament weighing 10 fish over 2lb,but none over 3lb.
