Trap door is closed again this morning. Bait still inside. I can't tell but it looks like the Coon is now pulling on the door disengaging the trip mechanism from the door holding tab. This one is very smart. I may need a foot trap this time.

I bought some Duke Dog Proof traps from Scheels. They had good shipping and pricing. They work great on animals with thumbs. Look them up on YouTube. Easy with dry cat food and a marsh mellow on top. I have trapped some of the varmints in the turkey woods...

This is number 3 for the week. Figured a new family must have moved in. I trapped one and shot one besides catching this one today. Well if I catch another tomorrow Buckeye will have a fresh meme for us to laugh at..........

I am not a bleeding heart by any stretch of the imagination. But to kill those are mistake. They are very healthy to have around. Many advantages but one key point they catch and kill snakes

Yes they have a place in the nature eco system I agree. They are however capable of carrying some pretty nasty diseases and if you ever seen one stuck in your garbage can you realize they have teeth like a cat or dog and will use them on you.
If critters mess with my garden, my chickens, or my house, or my car engines, or anything else I eliminate any chance of them returning for seconds. Raccoons, rabbits, squirrels, mice, rats, possums, skunks, bob cats, foxes, all have been captured on trail cameras in my yard and all have been permanently removed. Rats ate wires on 3 of my vehicles one time. Thousands of dollars in wire harness damage changed my attitude towards catch and release.

    Bon Temps!!

Possums and chickens do not mix.

I took out two adults and juvenile early last week. Nothing since then. For me it is a constant battle which is somewhat surprising since I live in the middle of a huge subdivision. I also had a raccoon that had taken up resident in my woodshop rafters. It took some real brainpower to evict him. They can be very destructive.
