Coons will eat anything it seems. Right now they visit our deer feeder but it is coon proofed with a special spinner plate.

I look out the window last night too check on the skunk in the trap up come sombering by is the biggest possum I have ever seen. He walked up to the skunk, sniffed him and keep moving. I guess they think under my shop is a hotel. Looks like i'm going to have to get some chicken wire and seal off the access points. I have already killed 7 possums in the last three weeks.

I agree on those raccoons. Give them enough time and they will figure anything out. They are smart.

Guess I’m just not as bothered by skunk smell as some. Ex gf told me it smelled like strong coffee. I thought she was crazy at first. Well, she is. But finally made the connection, and I get that too now. We used to have a cocker spaniel that never learned his lesson with them, got sprayed weekly.
Guess I’m nose blind to it.

I was harvesting Mayhaws in the swamp here about 25 years ago and a spider dropped inside my shirt and bit me on my side. I lost my sense of smell and taste for about 6 months. It was terrible. A buddy's kid kicked a small speckled trout under the console in his Whaler and ask me to get it out after is had rotted a while. He was very old then and could not do it himself. I held the rotten trout right up to my nose and could barely smell it.

skunk ain't terrible after a few hours of smelling it , your olfactory system kinda gets used to it ....
of course others near you won't think that way , but to be sure it wears off eventually ....
used to roll in road kill skunks before bowhunts was me .....and got point blanked one very early morning in the dark by one I thunk was a coon in the garden ...
picking up a shovel and sneaking up on a skunk in the dark and whacking it is not one of the brighter things I done for sure ....

Default PP Possum beat the Raccoons Last Night

I just can't catch all the critters I guess. This Possum was in the trap when I got up this morning. We want to go to Ross Barnett so a second trap will be employed going forward. Hopefully I will get a couple of nights without a critter in the traps. I'm catching these in my backyard, constantly. We live next to woods but you would think I would put a dent in them anyway.

I bought some no spray skunk traps. Certainly a worthwhile investment if you are plagued with the critters
