Healing Prayers going up for Dena from the Nelson family. Hang in there buddy and take one day at a time. I didn't have stroke but was in a coma for 29 days and they asked my wife to turn off life support 3 times and she refused. So much more but my recovery was a slow process. I know in my heart Dena can make it and God will help her through this. God is a great healer. God Bless...

Well guys, our 21 days were up this past Friday for ICU recovery time,, Unfortunately we haven't been able to get rid of that cursed ventilator but we have made strides in doing so,, she did almost 30 hrs yesterday without it and done crashed and had to get back n it today,mm it's only a matter of a day or two I believe she will totally be off...Her left hand is getting some movement now as well as her left foot,,,Both at this time last week we had nothing,,, so inches are good in this game,,My only worries are getting her to the right places as insurance permits,,m I just don't know enough about this insurance game or the places we have been offered to go to so I opted so far to just stay put in ICU until she gets off vent and then go upstairs into hospital care until she's ready for some type of rehab,, any suggestions sure would help,, I am lost... Just don't know enough about medicine and hard decisions like these to make a judgement..

Not that long term care insurance will help at this point, but there are some great policies out there that provide large benefits for extended periods of time. My mother-in-law got a home care policy that pays about $275 a day for a five year benefit period. It also gives a 100% refund of premiums every ten years if the policy has not been used. She has received the full refund twice, and at age 94 is about to use it for the first time. It was originally an American Travellers policy, but they have been bought out, and I don't know the current company name. If you have money to protect, finding the best policy available could save someone from going broke. Home care policies are cheaper than nursing home policies. The main reason is that the kids or their spouses usually ask for power of attorney, collect all of the parents' assets, and put them in the nursing home. You would be surprised how often this happens.
    Hope this helps someone.
    Still praying for y'all.

I’m glad you are seeing improvements. I own and operate a financial services business, and we deal with financial planning, which includes healthcare planning. We primarily work with Medicare. I can try to answer any questions that might arise. Please, don’t hesitate to message me if I can help. You and her are in my prayers.

I think you made a very wise decision to stay put. I was bullied into moving my wife to an LTAC and it was a 2 week setback. Keep fighting for your wife.
