So many places to fish on a body of water, go fish somewhere else and let them have the spot. After all, I feel that I am a good enough fisherman to find good fishing elsewhere. If I am trolling cranks or long lining jigs I go right past them sometimes catching decent fish and that can be upsetting to them.

That's why it's always best to have multiple "my spots" just like with fish structure; I put in several and expect to find other boats on some of them if I go when it's crowded. But usually only come across maybe one, I also share with them a little information about what type of structure they are fishing and when I put it in the lake. They are going to fish it anyway if they like it so may as well make a friend out of them if I can.

Some Gewber last week told me, you had so many fish attractors out you couldn't ever fish them all. Are you calling the whole Bay Area your spot?

I try not to be too possessive of places I like to fish. Public domain and all that. I do have a pet peeve that has raised it's ugly head a few times. Guys come to you and being friends, you finally give in to the request to `fish with you. So the day progresses and you stop in to one of the places that you always pick up some good fish out of. True to form, you bag a few good fish. That was the last time I got to fish there. Guess who was sitting in it every time I tried to fish it in the near future. The burn isn't the spot, but the lie that the interest was to fish with you. The interest was to bag the places you fish instead of spending the time and effort to find their own and share them with me as I did with them. Inexcusable.

If someone is on "my spot" then that is a good reason to find another spot that is just as good. This will give me another way point for the list and possible better fishing than the old spot. I have "found" several spots by watching other boats, but wouldn't attempt to fish them till they had left. I also agree with others in this thread, it's all public water. I used to get angry with pleasure boaters ruining my fishing, then I realized they have just as much right to be there as I do.

Your spots are easy to find. They are the ones with some many lures on them they look like decorated Christmas trees.

Some of these people don't even know that they are in a "spot" (brush). They just cast, catch, and stay. No idea what's under them or why. Just catching fish.

What you didn't see where I had wrote "this is my spot" on the water. Well I seen a man come up and fish all the way around a friend's boat last year. My friend was catching crappie going and coming and that man that fished around his boat never caught a fish and looked like he left pretty mad. That must had been his spot.

Agree. Too much water, too little time. You can always return to the location later. No deeds on public waters. Enjoy!
